Isoagglutinin Titer, Anti-A, Serum
Use
Isoagglutinin Titer, Anti-A, Serum is useful for evaluating individuals with possible hypogammaglobulinemia. It aids in the investigation of suspected roundworm infections. Isoagglutinins are antibodies produced by individuals causing the agglutination of red blood cells in others. They are directed toward A or B antigens absent in their own RBCs, typically formed in response to exposure to A-like antigens found in microorganisms.
Special Instructions
If not ordering electronically, complete and send a Benign Hematology Test Request form with the specimen. Specimen must arrive within 10 days of collection.
Limitations
Decreased isoagglutinin titers might occur in normal older adults and children aged 12 months or younger. The test is not performed for individuals with blood type A or AB. No defined reference values as interpretation depends on the clinical setting.
