Jo 1 Antibodies, IgG, Serum
Use
The Jo 1 Antibodies, IgG, Serum test evaluates patients with clinical features of idiopathic inflammatory myositis, especially those suggestive of anti-synthetase syndrome or interstitial lung disease. Autoantibodies against aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, including Jo-1, are key in identifying autoimmune conditions and aid in diagnosing myositis and defining its clinical subsets. This serves as a crucial diagnostic marker, given the association of these antibodies with syndromes like anti-synthetase syndrome and interstitial lung disease.
Special Instructions
For comprehensive instructions, refer to the Connective Tissue Disease Cascade document. If not ordering electronically, complete and send a Kidney Transplant Test Request form with the specimen.
Limitations
The performance characteristics of various assays for Jo 1 antibody detection are not extensively verified to establish comparability. A negative test does not rule out idiopathic inflammatory myositis. Results may vary based on the method and reagents used.
