LIM Domain Only 2 (LMO2) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
LIM domain only 2 (LMO2) is a transcription factor that regulates the vascular and hematopoietic systems and is involved in hematolymphoid neoplasia. LMO2 is expressed by germinal center B cells and may also be found in erythroid and myeloid precursors as well as megakaryocytes. Its presence is noted in cases of lymphoblastic and acute myeloid leukemia. LMO2 is seldom expressed in mature T, natural killer, and plasma cell neoplasms and is absent from non-hematolymphoid tissues except for endothelial cells. It can help in diagnosing B-cell lymphomas within an immunohistochemical panel to assign a germinal center phenotype.
Special Instructions
This test performs only the technical aspect of the stain without pathologist interpretation. It's advised not to order along with PATHC/Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled. Shipping instructions involve attaching specific labels to transport containers.
Limitations
The age of a cut paraffin section can significantly affect immunoreactivity. Stability thresholds are antigen-dependent; hence, best practice is to cut paraffin sections within 6 weeks. Additionally, environmental factors might affect the charge of glass slides, potentially altering slide staining.
