Liver Profile, Serum
Use
The hepatic function panel is useful for screening liver damage. It is especially helpful in cases where patients have conditions or are taking drugs that might affect the liver. The panel helps diagnose liver disease in symptomatic individuals and is used to monitor liver health and the effectiveness of treatments over time. An abnormal result might indicate a need for further testing to determine the cause of liver dysfunction.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
The results from the hepatic function panel do not diagnose a specific liver condition alone. Abnormal results may indicate a temporary liver issue or another problem elsewhere in the body, such as in skeletal muscles, pancreas, or heart. Further testing may be necessary to confirm the underlying cause of abnormal liver test outcomes.
