Lysozyme Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Lysozyme is an intracellular enzyme found in the primary granules of myeloid cells, monocytes, and histiocytes. Diagnostically, antibodies to lysozyme can help confirm monocytic and histiocytic differentiation in acute myeloid leukemia or histiocytic sarcoma. The test aids in the confirmation of monocytic and histiocytic differentiation, establishing potential diagnosis in specific clinical contexts.
Special Instructions
This test is only for the technical component of the stain, with no pathologist interpretation provided. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation as the technical component stains will be canceled in such cases. Use the green 'Attention Pathology' label and the pink Immunostain Technical Only label when shipping.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. If interpretation is required, order PATHC / Pathology Consultation for a full diagnostic evaluation. The age of a paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity. The stability of the sections is influenced by environmental factors and adherence to best storage practices, such as minimizing exposure to high humidity and heat. Unsuitable glass slides can lead to inconsistent staining outcomes due to altered slide surface chemistry.
