Mitragynine (Qualitative), Urine
Use
Mitragynine is an alkaloid found in the plant Kratom, which originates from Asia. The leaves of this plant are consumed for their stimulant and analgesic effects, and these effects are attributed to mitragynine. Plant extracts are sold for their medicinal use and may be subject to abuse. Some Kratom materials have also been reported to contain O-desmethyltramadol, presumably from exogenous sources. This test is used to detect the presence of Mitragynine in urine samples, helping in the assessment of potential Kratom use or abuse.
Special Instructions
Must submit one specimen per order. Specimens cannot be shared between multiple orders.
Limitations
This test does not differentiate between different sources of mitragynine such as plant sources or synthetic supplements. It is a qualitative test and cannot quantify the level of mitragynine present in the sample. There may be potential cross-reactivity with other substances, and the presence of the alkaloid does not necessarily indicate impairment or specific physiological effects. False positives or negatives can occur, and confirmatory testing may be required in some cases.
