MUM-1/IRF4 Immunostain, Bone Marrow, Technical Component Only
Use
This test aids in the identification of hematolymphoid neoplasms and melanomas. The MUM-1 protein, expressed by the IRF4 gene, is present in a subset of B cells, plasma cells, and activated T cells. It's also found in various hematolymphoid neoplasms and some melanomas. This test is primarily used for cases involving suspected hematolymphoid malignancies or to differentiate among similar tumor types.

Not provided.
Limitations
This test is optimized for B5-fixed, decalcified, paraffin-embedded bone marrow specimens. It does not include pathologist interpretation, which must be ordered separately if required. Glass slide quality can affect staining, and slides should be stored to minimize humidity and heat exposure.
