Mustard Food IgG
Use
The clinical utility of food-specific IgG tests has not been established and should be used in special clinical situations to select foods for evaluation by diet elimination and challenge in patients who have food-related complaints. This test is used to identify immunologic sensitization by the food allergen in question rather than to confirm a food allergy.
Special Instructions
This test should only be ordered by physicians who recognize the limitations of the test. Ensure proper handling and refrigeration of serum samples to maintain stability.
Limitations
The presence of food-specific IgG alone cannot be taken as evidence of food allergy, and it has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Reference ranges for food-specific IgG tests have not been established.
