Olive Black IgG
Use
The Olive Black IgG test is used to detect the presence of IgG antibodies specific to the olive tree (Olea europaea) allergen. It is primarily utilized to identify immunologic sensitization to olive pollen, which may be implicated in allergic reactions or related symptoms. However, the presence of IgG antibodies alone cannot be taken as definite evidence of allergy, but rather as an indicator of exposure and sensitization to the allergen.
Special Instructions
This test should only be ordered by healthcare providers who are aware of its limitations. The presence of food-specific IgG indicates exposure to the allergen but not necessarily an allergy. It is recommended to use this test in combination with a thorough clinical evaluation to determine its relevance in specific dietary elimination or challenge protocols.
Limitations
Reference ranges for food-specific IgG tests have not been established. Clinical validity and utility of these tests for diagnosing food allergies are still under evaluation. These assays may indicate exposure or sensitization but should not be considered definitive for diagnosing food allergies. Results should be interpreted with caution and in conjunction with clinical findings.
