Opiates Confirmation, Chain of Custody, Random, Urine
Use
This test is useful for the detection and quantification of various opiates such as codeine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, noroxycodone, noroxymorphone, norhydrocodone, dihydrocodeine, and naloxone in urine. It is particularly critical in scenarios requiring chain of custody, where the test results may be used in legal contexts. The chain of custody ensures that specimen handling is meticulously documented to prevent tampering.
Special Instructions
This test mandates the use of a chain of custody process to safeguard legal admissibility. A Chain of Custody Kit (T282), which includes specimen containers, seals, and required documentation, is necessary for the sample to be processed. Ensure all documentation accompanies the sample.
Limitations
This test detects drugs structurally similar to morphine but does not identify other opioid class drugs like fentanyl, meperidine, or methadone. Specimens with less than 5 mL volume may not allow for comprehensive testing of all analytes included in the assay.
