Orange IgG
Use
The Orange IgG test is intended for situations where there is a need to evaluate immunologic sensitization to the Citrus sinensis component. The presence of Orange-specific IgG alone is not evidence of food allergy but indicates immune sensitization to the orange allergen in question. This test may be used alongside dietary elimination and challenge strategies in patients presenting with food-related complaints. It should be ordered by physicians familiar with its limitations and role in patient evaluation.
Special Instructions
The reporting of this test does not imply the presence of a food allergy, and a positive result should lead to further diagnostic consideration and patient-specific dietary interventions if appropriate. Physicians are advised to use this test as part of a broader diagnostic and therapeutic strategy.
Limitations
Reference ranges for food-specific IgG tests, including Orange IgG, have not yet been established, and their clinical utility is still under debate. These tests should not be used as definitive indicators of a food allergy but can guide dietary modification trials. The test is optimized for serum specimens and requires careful handling to prevent degradation or contamination.
