Peanut IgG4
Use
The test is used in special clinical situations to select foods for evaluation by diet elimination and challenge in patients who have food-related complaints. It can also be used to evaluate food allergic patients prior to food challenges. The presence of food-specific IgG4 has been studied in response to various oral food immunotherapy treatments, indicating it might be helpful in understanding allergic responses, although reference ranges and utility have not been clearly established.
Special Instructions
Test setup and reporting are performed by Eurofins Viracor. Serum samples should be centrifuged, and the serum should be sent refrigerated in a plastic vial for analysis.
Limitations
The clinical utility of food-specific IgG4 tests has not been clearly established, and reference ranges for these tests have not been developed. The test may not reliably indicate the presence or severity of food allergies or intolerances. Furthermore, the relation of IgG4 levels to actual clinical symptoms remains unclear. Hemolysis, lipemia, and icterus conditions are listed, but no specific rejection criteria regarding them are provided other than being acceptable (NA stated).
