Pecan Food IgG
Use
The Pecan Food IgG test is used in specific clinical situations to help evaluate food-related complaints. It is intended to help select foods for further evaluation through diet elimination and challenge processes. However, the test is not a definitive diagnostic tool for food allergies, as the presence of food-specific IgG indicates only immunologic sensitization by the food allergen and not a clinical allergy.
Special Instructions
This test should only be ordered by physicians who understand its limitations and are capable of interpreting the results appropriately within the context of a comprehensive clinical evaluation.
Limitations
The clinical utility of food-specific IgG tests has not been established, and reference ranges for these tests have not been established. The presence of food-specific IgG is not indicative of a food allergy, as it only indicates immunological sensitization. Results should be used only as part of a broader clinical assessment.
