Risk Score, if Premenopausal, Serum
Use
The Risk Score for premenopausal women is used to calculate the risk assessment for finding an ovarian malignancy during surgery in women who present with an adnexal mass. This calculation incorporates cancer antigen 125 (CA125), human epididymal protein 4 (HE4), and menopausal status to classify women into high-risk or low-risk groups for finding an ovarian malignancy. This assessment is crucial for determining the appropriate course of surgical intervention.
Special Instructions
The Risk Score is only orderable as part of a profile. It cannot be ordered individually. It is part of the ROMA Score (Ovarian Malignancy Risk Algorithm), Serum.
Limitations
The Risk Score should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical and radiological assessment. It is indicated for women older than 18 who present with an adnexal mass planned for surgery and who have not yet been referred to an oncologist. The algorithm provides a guideline but should be considered alongside other diagnostic methods.
