Ro52 Antibody, IgG, Serum
Use
Evaluating patients at risk for connective tissue disease with or without interstitial lung disease. Differentiating single vs double positivity for Ro52 and Ro60 antibodies in combination with anti-Ro60. The SS-A/Ro is part of the Ro/La antigenic complex, prevalent among autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, and primary biliary cholangitis. Presence of anti-Ro52 and anti-Ro60 antibodies may indicate certain autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjogren’s syndrome.
Special Instructions
This test detects antibodies to Ro52 only. For testing antibodies to both Ro52 and Ro60, order ROPAN/Ro52 and Ro60 Antibodies, IgG, Serum.
Limitations
Results should be interpreted with clinical findings and other laboratory testing. Tests should not exclusively be relied upon for diagnosing connective tissue disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren's syndrome, systemic sclerosis, or idiopathic inflammatory myopathy. Some antibodies specific for SSA 52 may not be detected due to masking of target epitopes.
