Ro60 Antibody, IgG, Serum
Use
The Ro60 Antibody, IgG test is useful for evaluating patients at risk for autoimmune connective tissue diseases, such as primary Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, and primary biliary cholangitis. It helps differentiate between single versus double positivity for Ro52 and Ro60 antibodies, which has implications for diagnosis, prognosis, and patient management. Ro60 antibodies are associated with increased risk for systemic lupus erythematosus and, to a lesser degree, Sjogren syndrome.
Special Instructions
This test detects antibodies to Ro60 only. For testing both Ro 52 and Ro60 antibodies, order ROPAN / Ro52 and Ro60 Antibodies, IgG, Serum.
Limitations
Results should be interpreted in the context of clinical findings and other laboratory tests. Standard SS-A (Ro) immunoassays, such as enzyme immunoassays, may not detect specific antibodies due to masking of target epitopes. Multiplex bead assays may report as SS-A/Ro positive without differentiation. Negative results do not exclude connective tissue diseases, including Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus.
