Special Instructions
Interpretation provided by Mayo Clinic pathologists in a formal pathology report to the referring medical examiner. Ancillary studies including appropriate stains may be performed at additional charge. If not ordering electronically, complete and send the Sudden Cardiac Death Pathology Consultation Request form. A preliminary or final autopsy report is required.
Limitations
Technical confusion may arise due to improper specimen collection, handling, or selection, and interfering substances. Appropriate tissue sampling and fixation are required for diagnosis. All specimens will be evaluated for test suitability.
