T-Box Expressed in T Cells (TBET) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The T-box transcription factor, TBET, is a master regulator of Th1 lymphoid development. It is expressed in other hematopoietic cells, including stem cells, B cells, and natural killer cells. In normal tonsil, TBET staining is seen in scattered small interfollicular T lymphocytes, with virtually no staining in the germinal centers. It is preferentially positive in T-cell lymphomas with Th1 differentiation, B-cell lymphomas of memory B-cell origin, and both classical and nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma.
Special Instructions
This test includes only technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. If interpretation is required, order PATHC / Pathology Consultation for a full diagnostic evaluation or second opinion of the case. Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity. Stability thresholds vary widely among published literature and are antigen dependent. Best practice is for paraffin sections to be cut within 6 weeks. Sending unsuitable glass slides can result in inconsistent staining due to poor slide surface chemistry.
