T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia/Lymphoma (ALL), Specified FISH, Varies
Use
This test is useful for detecting common recurrent chromosome abnormalities associated with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (T-ALL) using client-specified probe sets. It serves as an adjunct to conventional chromosome studies in patients with T-ALL and is beneficial for evaluating specimens where standard cytogenetic studies are unsuccessful. This test is also significant in identifying and tracking known chromosome abnormalities in patients with T-ALL and monitoring response to therapy. However, it should not be used to screen for residual T-ALL.
Special Instructions
Client-specified FISH probes must be listed in the probe request field. This test includes a charge for the probe application, analysis, and professional interpretation of results for one probe set. Additional charges apply for reflex or additional probe sets. If targeted FISH probes are not included with the test order, processing will be delayed, and the test may be canceled and reordered automatically based on patient age.
Limitations
This FISH test is not FDA-approved and is best used as an adjunct to existing clinical and pathologic information. It is not a substitute for conventional chromosome studies which are capable of detecting abnormalities associated with other hematological disorders that may go undetected with this FISH test. The absence of a neoplastic clone does not rule out the presence of a neoplastic disorder.
