T-Cell Intracellular Antigen 1 (TIA-1) Immunostain, Bone Marrow, Technical Component Only
Use
The T-Cell Intracellular Antigen 1 (TIA-1) Immunostain test is useful for characterizing neoplasms of cytotoxic T cells or natural killer cells. TIA-1 shows a granular cytoplasmic staining pattern due to its presence in cytotoxic granules, involved in cytotoxic cell-mediated immune responses. It is expressed in normal cytotoxic T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and granulocytes, providing valuable insight into immune-related disorders.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the stains will be canceled, and any IHC/ISH stain as part of PATHC will be performed at the discretion of the reviewing pathologist at an additional charge.
Limitations
This test is optimized for use on B5-fixed, decalcified, paraffin-embedded bone marrow specimens. The age of cut paraffin sections can significantly impact immunoreactivity, with stability varying widely based on the antigen. Environmental factors may affect the charge of glass slides, altering slide staining and possibly causing inconsistent results. Best practices for storage include minimizing time slides are unpackaged and limiting exposure to humidity, heat, and plastics.
