T-Cell Intracellular Antigen 1 (TIA-1) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
TIA-1 is a protein that shows granular cytoplasmic staining patterns in cytotoxic granules. It is primarily found in cytotoxic T cells and is useful for characterizing neoplasms of cytotoxic T cells or NK cells. The test is used for identifying these neoplasms in patient samples, facilitating further diagnostic and treatment decisions.
Special Instructions
This test only performs the technical stain of TIA-1 without providing pathologist interpretation. For interpretative results, a pathology consultation (PATHC) should be ordered. Technical stains ordered with PATHC will be canceled.
Limitations
The test does not include a pathologist interpretation. The stability of cut paraffin sections affects the immunoreactivity of the stain, which may weaken over time. Environmental conditions can also affect the slide surface chemistry, which may lead to inconsistent staining results.
