T-Cell Receptor Delta Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
This test is useful for the classification of lymphomas, particularly those derived from the delta T-cell subset, which often display a more aggressive clinical behavior. Recognition of these lymphoma types is clinically significant as they have distinct therapeutic implications. The expression of the T-cell receptor delta chain is observed in a small subset of total T-cells, making this test critical for accurate diagnosis and patient management.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain and does not include pathologist interpretation. Orders for technical component stains should not be placed with Pathology Consultation (PATHC); such orders will be canceled. Appropriate labeling of transport containers is required.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation, so full diagnostic evaluation should be performed through additional clinical correlation by a qualified pathologist. Age of paraffin sections can affect the results due to changes in immunoreactivity. Environmental factors can affect the charge of slides, which may lead to inconsistent staining. Best practice is to minimize post-unpacking storage time and exposure to humidity and heat.
