T-Cell Subsets, Regulatory (Tregs), Blood
Use
The T-Cell Subsets, Regulatory (Tregs), Blood test is crucial for evaluating patients with clinical features of IPEX (immune dysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked inheritance) and other primary immunodeficiencies. It is also useful in autoimmune diseases, allergy and asthma, and monitoring graft-vs-host disease post-hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This test helps in understanding the regulatory T cells (Tregs) role in suppressing aberrant immune responses.
Special Instructions
Testing is performed Monday through Friday, and specimens not received by 4 p.m. Central time on Fridays may be canceled. It is recommended to collect and package the specimen as close to shipping time as possible for it to arrive within 24 hours of collection. The ordering healthcare professional's name and phone number are required.
Limitations
This test provides only quantitative information on various regulatory T cell (Treg) subsets and does not provide functional information about these populations. Molecular testing is needed to confirm a diagnosis of IPEX. The timing and consistency of blood collection are critical for monitoring lymphocyte subsets serially.
