TAU 3 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
This test is useful for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders. The Tau 3 antibody stains microtubule-associated proteins in the brain that are associated with diseases of the central nervous system, particularly neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. The presence and distribution of tau protein can provide valuable insights into the neuropathology of these diseases.
Special Instructions
This test includes only technical performance of the stain and does not provide a pathologist interpretation. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If interpretation is required, order PATHC for a full diagnostic evaluation. The positive and negative controls are verified as showing appropriate immunoreactivity.
Limitations
The age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity and stability thresholds vary widely. The charge of glass slides can also be affected by environmental factors, which may alter slide staining. Unsuitable glass slides can result in inconsistent staining due to poor slide surface chemistry. Best practices include minimizing exposure to plastics and high humidity. Additionally, the results should be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests.
