Thallium/Creatinine Ratio, Random, Urine
Use
Detecting toxic thallium exposure in random urine specimen. Thallium is odorless, tasteless, and found in trace amounts in the earth's crust, used in electronic manufacturing and previously in rodenticides. Exposure may occur via ingestion (food, smoking). Acute ingestion can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, sensorimotor polyneuropathy, and alopecia within about a week; other symptoms include gastrointestinal, myalgia, hypertension, cardiac, and liver injury. Most thallium is excreted in urine, detectable as early as one hour post exposure and up to two months thereafter.
