Turkey IgG
Use
The clinical utility of food-specific IgG tests, including the Turkey IgG test, has not been established. These tests are utilized in special clinical situations to help guide food elimination and challenge diets in patients with food-related complaints. However, it's important to note that the presence of food-specific IgG antibodies is only indicative of immunologic sensitization to the respective food allergen and not evidence of a food allergy.
Special Instructions
This test should be ordered only by physicians who understand its limitations. The reference ranges have not been established for food-specific IgG tests, and the presence of IgG antibodies alone does not indicate a clinical allergy.
Limitations
The Turkey IgG test is limited by its indication of only immunologic sensitization rather than a food allergy. The presence of IgG antibodies should not be interpreted as a confirmation of food allergy. Reference ranges are not established, and results should be used for guiding food elimination and challenge under professional supervision.
