Volatile Screen, Chain of Custody, Random, Urine
Use
Detecting the presence of acetone, methanol, isopropanol, or ethanol in urine with subsequent quantitation. Provides chain of custody for legal evidence, ensuring specimen integrity when results could be used in court; not intended for employment-related testing.
Special Instructions
This test includes analysis of methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and acetone. Chain-of-Custody Kit (T282) required; contains specimen containers, seals, and documentation. If urine creatinine is required or adulteration suspected, order ADLTX in addition. Forms: Chain of Custody Request included in kit; if not ordering electronically, submit Therapeutics Test Request (T831). For non–chain‑of‑custody testing, order VLTU.
Limitations
Quantitation of acetone, methanol, isopropanol, or ethanol in urine correlates poorly with degree of intoxication.
