Clinical Use

Use

The Yes-associated protein (YAP) is a downstream regulatory target in the Hippo signaling pathway, upregulated in certain medulloblastomas associated with sonic hedgehog (SHH) and Wnt signaling pathways. YAP expression is found in various tissues, including the lung, placenta, prostate, ovary, and testis. This immunohistochemistry test helps in the identification and differentiation of medulloblastomas by staining tissue samples to evaluate YAP protein presence, assisting pathologists in tumor classification and further clinical decision-making.

Special Instructions

This test includes only the technical performance of the stain with no pathologist interpretation provided. It should not be ordered with PATHC/Pathology Consultation, as technical component stains will be canceled. Any immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain ordered as part of the PATHC will be performed at the discretion of the reviewing pathologist and may incur an additional charge.
