BCL6 3q27 Rearrangement
Use
The FISH test detects the BCL6 (3q27) gene rearrangement in hematologic specimens. This rearrangement is associated with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, and marginal zone B-cell lymphoma. It is often ordered as part of the F BURKITT Panel for comprehensive evaluation of lymphoid malignancies.
Special Instructions
Please attempt to process and report samples received over 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is generally preferred for hematologic malignancies.
Limitations
The test is limited by the stability and integrity of the specimens. Clotted specimens, specimens exposed to extreme temperatures, or with an insufficient number of cells may lead to rejection. The test lacks sensitivity for rearrangements beyond the BCL6 region or in poorly preserved specimens.
