BRAF V600E, technical only
Use
BRAF V600E is a protein marker targeting a mutation in the BRAF gene, substituting valine with glutamic acid at position 600, activating the MAPK signaling pathway, and driving tumorigenesis. It serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for cancers including melanoma, colorectal cancer, Hairy cell leukemia, and thyroid cancer. This test is technical only, with pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested within 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides require positively charged glass slides to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation. Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus; all other fixatives will be rejected. Turnaround times are subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements and the final TAT is specified in the biopharma study contract.
