Burkitt/'Double Hit' Large B-cell Lymphoma Panel
Use
FISH panel test on hematologic specimens for the most common abnormalities observed in Burkitt and high-grade B-cell lymphoma. Includes: c-MYC (8q24) rearrangement, BCL6 (3q27) rearrangement, IGH::MYC fusion, and IGH::BCL2 fusion. This test can assist in the diagnosis and classification of aggressive lymphomas, particularly those with 'double hit' features associated with c-MYC and BCL2 or BCL6 rearrangements.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received > 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the sample of choice in most heme malignancies.
Limitations
The analysis is based on the detection of specific chromosomal abnormalities using FISH technology. Therefore, it may not detect all potential genetic abnormalities in Burkitt and high-grade B-cell lymphomas. Additionally, the test's accuracy may be affected by the specimen's quality and the presence of clots or exposure to extreme temperatures.
