C MYC 8q24 Rearrangement
Use
The FISH test on hematologic specimens is used for detecting the c-MYC gene rearrangement. The c-MYC gene is frequently rearranged in aggressive B-cell lymphomas, including Burkitt’s lymphoma. This test is often ordered as part of the F BURKITT Panel.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received over 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the sample of choice in most hematologic malignancies.
Limitations
Specific limitations of the test are not detailed, but it notes the requirement for specimens to be stable for up to 72 hours under specific storage conditions. Extreme temperatures during transport can lead to specimen rejection.
