CA 125, technical only
Use
Cancer antigen 125 (CA125) is a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of epithelial ovarian neoplasms and various other tissues, including the endometrium, fallopian tubes, pleura, peritoneum, and pericardium. It is used as a tumor marker in ovarian cancer, aiding in diagnosis and monitoring of treatment response.
Special Instructions
Technical component only. Pathologist read not included. Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract.
Limitations
Samples must be tested within 3 months after placing in ethanol. Positive results should be interpreted with caution due to the potential for false positives from various other tissues. CA 125 levels can be affected by several factors, limiting its use as a standalone diagnostic tool.
