CD3, technical only
Use
CD3 antigen is a marker of T-cell differentiation first detected in early thymocytes and throughout maturation. CD3 can be used with a panel of antibodies to characterize T-cell disorders. Variable staining may be observed on natural killer cells. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
The test only includes the technical component of IHC for CD3. Pathologist interpretation is not part of this test and should be arranged separately if needed. The test is specific to CD3 and does not include other T-cell markers unless specified. Shipping conditions and the fixative used are critical for ensuring valid results.
