Clusterin / Apolipoprotein J
Use
Clusterin, also known as Apolipoprotein J, is a stress-induced, cytoprotective chaperone protein regulated by HSF1 and functions similarly to a small heat-shock protein. It is involved in programmed cell death, regulation of complement mediated cell lysis, membrane recycling, cell-cell adhesion, and src-induced transformation. Clusterin is widely distributed in normal human tissues, including normal epithelial cells, pancreatic beta islets, placenta, appendix, and testis.
Special Instructions
This test is available for use in clinical trials or research purposes only. Fresh tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested within 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
The stated turnaround times are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Specimens not fixed in 10% NBF or B plus will be rejected. Fresh tissues must be fixed appropriately and transported with a proper gel pack to avoid temperature extremes.

Collection Instructions
Fixative should be at a 20:1 fixative to tissue ratio, 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF) for 6-72 hours (48-72 hours PREFERRED). Specimens may be transferred to 70% alcohol for transportation after fixation.
Storage Instructions
15°C to 25°C. Use a refrigerated (NOT FROZEN) gel pack in the shipment to protect from extreme temperatures.
Causes for Rejection
Specimens not fixed in 10% NBF or B plus. All other fixatives.
