IGH::BCL2; t(14;18), paraffin
Use
FISH testing on paraffin-embedded cells for detection of IGH::BCL2 gene fusion. This fusion, associated with t(14;18), is frequently observed in B-cell malignancies, including follicular lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Often ordered as part of the FP BURKITT Panel test.
Special Instructions
Tissues should be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF). Tissues preserved in B+ fixative or decalcified are usually not suitable for FISH. Assay requires 3 unstained slides minimum (two for each probe) and one H&E stained slide.
Limitations
Improper fixation or unsuitable preservation such as in B+ fixative or decalcified tissues can render samples unsuitable for FISH analysis. Extreme temperatures during sample handling can compromise test quality.
