IGH::MYC; t(8;14), paraffin
Use
FISH testing on paraffin-embedded cells for detection of IGH::c-MYC gene fusion associated with t(8;14). Depending on clinical, immunophenotypic, and morphologic context, IGH::c-MYC fusion can support a diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma. However, this fusion may occur in the progression of non-Burkitt lymphomas and plasma cell neoplasms. Often ordered as part of the FP BURKITT Panel test.
Special Instructions
Tissues should be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF). Tissues preserved in B+ fixative or decalcified are usually not suitable for FISH. Assay requires 3 unstained slides minimum (two for each probe) and one H&E stained slide. If unstained slides are sent, cut FFPE tissue sections at 3-5 μm thickness, mounted on positively charged slides.
Limitations
The assay performance depends on the quality and fixation of the tissue sample. Inappropriate fixation methods or decalcified tissues may not be suitable for analysis via FISH.
