MLL(KMT2A) 11q23 Gene Rearrangement
Use
FISH test on hematologic specimens for detection of KMT2A (11q23 / MLL) gene rearrangement. KMT2A rearrangement may occur in a variety of neoplastic processes including myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), Amplification of MLL (KMT2A) is a rare but recurrent finding in cases of both AML and B-ALL.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received > 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the sample of choice in most heme malignancies.
Limitations
The test is subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements, and final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract. Specimen rejection criteria include clotted specimens, exposure to extreme temperature, and use of anticoagulants toxic to cells.
