PAN (AE1/AE3) Cytokeratin
Use
Broad spectrum cytokeratin cocktail for immunohistochemistry detection of high molecular weight cytokeratins (0-6; 14-16) and the low molecular weight cytokeratins (7-8; 19). Not reactive towards cytokeratins 17 and 18 (Van Bockstal MR., 2022).
Special Instructions
Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. This is NOT preferred. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol. Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
Limitations
The test is not reactive towards cytokeratins 17 and 18. Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus, as all other fixatives will be rejected. Specimens should be transferred to 70% alcohol for transportation purposes after fixation in 10% NBF or B plus, but use of other fixatives may lead to rejection.
