Periodic Acid-Schiff Stain (Fungus), technical only
Use
The PAS-fungus special stain is specifically designed to detect fungal organisms by highlighting fungal cell walls. PAS-F is a valuable diagnostic tool in pathology for diagnosing fungal infections, especially those caused by Candida, Aspergillus, and Histoplasma species. This test is limited to technical components, without pathologist read.
Special Instructions
The stated turnaround times are for clinical use and may change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract. Specimens should be tested within 3 months if stored in ethanol after formalin fixation. Use positively charged glass slides to prevent background staining and tissue loss.
Limitations
This test does not include a pathologist read. Specimens must be fixed in 10% NBF or B plus; other fixatives will be rejected. Fresh tissues have a stability of up to 72 hours. Unstained slides are stable indefinitely, provided they are not baked.
