PML::RARA; t(15;17)
Use
FISH test on hematologic specimens for detection of PML::RARA gene translocation. PML::RARA translocation occurs in approximately 97% of patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia. This test is crucial in identifying cases where the PML::RARA fusion protein is present, which is commonly associated with acute promyelocytic leukemia, aiding in diagnosis and treatment decision-making.
Special Instructions
This is run as a STAT test. Please provide the ordering physician's or appropriate contact phone number to receive STAT results. All attempts will be made to process and report samples received more than 72 hours post-collection.
Limitations
The test is limited to the detection of the PML::RARA translocation and cannot detect other genetic abnormalities or mutations that may be present in the sample. Clotted specimens or specimens exposed to extreme temperatures may be rejected, potentially delaying diagnosis.
