PRDM16 1p36 Rearrangement
Use
The FISH test detects PRDM16 (1p36.32) gene rearrangement, which is a rare but recurrent finding in acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome. This testing helps in diagnosing and managing these hematologic conditions, providing vital information for clinical treatment strategies.
Special Instructions
All attempts will be made to process and report samples received more than 72 hours post-collection. Bone marrow is the preferred specimen for most hematologic malignancies. The turnaround time is subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements and will be specified in the study contract.
Limitations
The test results may be influenced by the quality and handling of the specimen. Specimens clotted, exposed to extreme temperatures, or containing toxic anticoagulants may be rejected. Additionally, an insufficient number of cells may lead to rejection. The test is categorized as RUO, indicating research use only and not intended for diagnostic procedures.
