SOX11, technical only
Use
SOX11 is a transcription factor involved in the development of various tissues and is used in pathology for identifying tumors of neural or mesenchymal origin. It is particularly useful for diagnosing malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs), as it is highly expressed in these tumors but not in benign schwannomas or other soft tissue tumors. SOX11 also helps distinguish certain types of B-cell lymphomas. Technical component only. Pathologist read not included.
Special Instructions
Fresh tissues must be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours and can be transferred to 70% ethanol for storage at 2-8°C. Unstained slides require positively charged glass slides to prevent tissue loss and should remain unbaked.
Limitations
The test is specified for use in identifying neural or mesenchymal origin tumors, notably MPNSTs and distinguishing B-cell lymphomas. It does not include pathologist interpretation which must be performed separately.
