SYT 18q11.2 Synovial Sarcoma, paraffin
Use
FISH testing on paraffin-embedded cells for Synovial sarcomas, which account for 5-10% of soft tissue sarcomas, are seen mainly in adolescents and adults aged between 15 and 45 years. More than 85-95% of them arise in the deep soft tissues of the extremities. Synovial sarcomas harbor the t(X;18) translocation.
Special Instructions
Tissues should be fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF). Tissues preserved in B+ fixative or decalcified are usually not suitable for FISH. Assay requires 3 unstained slides minimum (two for each probe) and one H&E stained slide. If unstained slides are sent, cut FFPE tissue sections at 3-5 μm thickness, mounted on positively charged slides.
