1p/19q Tricolor Deletion
Use
The 1p/19q Tricolor Deletion test is used to detect and differentiate whole-arm vs partial deletions of chromosomes 1p and 19q, as well as to identify polysomy. It is particularly used in the diagnosis of oligodendroglioma, aiding in the detection of specific genetic abnormalities associated with this disease.
Special Instructions
Packaging should include a paraffin block along with a circled H&E slide for tech-only operations. When using sliced specimens, submit 4 unstained slides cut at 4-5 microns, along with a circled H&E slide. Ensure that cold packs are used during transport, avoiding direct contact with specimens. New York State clients need to provide the collection date and time.
Limitations
This test utilizes FISH analysis, which may be limited by the quality of the specimen, particularly in cases where slides are inadequately prepared or damaged. Manual analysis might alter the CPT coding, and correct coding remains the responsibility of the billing party.
