Low-Grade/Small B-Cell Lymphoma FISH Panel
Also known as: Small B-Cell Lymphoma
Use
This targeted panel is appropriate when clinical and morphologic evaluation is most suggestive of a low-grade/small B-cell lymphoma, and high-grade lymphomas are not a diagnostic consideration. BCL6 evaluation (included in this panel) can provide further prognostic information in cases of follicular lymphoma, as it can indicate a higher risk for transformation to aggressive lymphoma. Low-grade/small B-cell lymphomas include follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), marginal zone lymphoma (MZL)/MALT lymphomas, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL).
Special Instructions
Probes for each translocation may be ordered separately. For Tech Only clients, please circle H&E slide. Use cold pack for transport, ensuring it's not in direct contact with specimen. For fresh samples: refrigerate before shipping and ship on the same day as drawn whenever possible. Do not freeze.
Limitations
This panel is limited to detecting specific genetic abnormalities commonly associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and related B-cell lymphomas. It does not evaluate high-grade lymphomas like large cell anaplastic and Burkitt lymphoma. Special attention should be given to CLL/SLL, as it is better evaluated by the CLL FISH Panel or NeoTYPE CLL Profile considering its typical presentation with peripheral blood lymphocytosis.
