PSA
Also known as: Prostate Specific Antigen
Use
Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a glycoprotein restricted to the cytoplasm of acinar and ductal epithelia of normal, benign or malignant prostate tissue. This antibody reacts against primary and metastatic prostatic neoplasms, useful for determining if an isolated metastasis is of prostatic origin.
Special Instructions
Block and slide identifiers should be clearly written and match exactly with the specimen ID and specimen labeling as noted on the requisition.
Limitations
The antibody does not react against tumors of non-prostatic origin, limiting its scope to prostatic tissues only.
