Spirochete
Use
Immunohistochemical (IHC) localization of Treponema pallidum (spirochete) in formalin‑fixed paraffin‑embedded (FFPE) tissue enables accurate identification of the causative agent of syphilis. This method succeeds traditional silver stains (e.g., Steiner or Warthin‑Starry) by providing a more specific, reliable approach, though cross‑reactivity with Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) should be considered.

Not provided.
Limitations
Cross‑reactivity of the anti‑spirochete antibody with Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) may lead to potential false‑positive staining. The test applies only to FFPE tissues and may not detect organisms in other specimen types.
