T-Cell Receptor Beta Gene Rearrangement
Also known as: T-Cell Clonality Assessment (Beta)
Use
T-cell receptor (TCR) gene rearrangement analysis is commonly used for determining clonality in the diagnostic evaluation of T-cell lymphomas and leukemias. TCR gamma gene (tested separately) and beta gene rearrangement analysis (as provided in this test) together will detect most clonal TCR rearrangements in patients with T-cell lymphomas/leukemias. Results should be interpreted in clinical context for diagnosis of T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders.
Special Instructions
Test may be ordered concurrently, or after a negative result, with the T-Cell Receptor Gamma Gene Rearrangement assay. Use cold pack for transport, making sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen. For fresh samples, refrigerate before shipping and ship same day as drawn whenever possible.
Limitations
This test is DNA-based and not suitable for freeze & hold option. Paraffin block is preferred and do not use zinc fixatives. Block and slide identifiers should be clearly written and match exactly with the specimen ID and specimen labeling as noted on the requisition.
