Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Panel
Use
The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Panel is intended for individuals who have a clinical or suspected diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and have tested negative for Fragile X syndrome. This test is designed to help uncover genetic causes of ASD by analyzing 170 genes that may be involved in the condition. The test is suitable for individuals aged 3 years or older, and can provide valuable insights for diagnosis and management.
Special Instructions
To order the test, one must log in through myPrevent or use the downloadable Test Requisition Form to fax in the order. Standard pricing is available for institutions. Reflexive testing options and family testing coordinations such as duo or trio are available, requiring the inclusion of family or comparator demographics on the proband report.
Limitations
The test is limited to the analysis of the 170 genes included in the panel. While NGS provides comprehensive coverage, there can be limitations in detecting certain types of genetic variations outside the intended target areas. Genetic counseling is recommended to understand the implications and limitations of the test results.
